The National Weather Service issued flash food warnings for several parts of southern Nevada this afternoon as thunderstorms caused heavy rains.

The first warning was issued for northeast Clark County, including Bunkerville and Mesquite. “Floods are underway or expected to begin shortly. Do not try to drive in high water, ”the weather service posted on social media.

A few minutes later, a similar warning was issued for Mountain’s Edge, which received at least half an inch of rain. A warning has also been issued for the eastern part of Henderson and for Las Vegas near the Sam Boyd Stadium.

The Regional Flood District reports water levels greater than 11 feet between Eastgate Road and Interstate 515.

The storms are expected to last until early evening before they leave the valley, the weather service said.
