LAS VEGAS (KTNV) – A Las Vegas woman was arrested after her 2 dogs died in a garage Sunday night.

30 year old Iesha Hill is accused of leaving her 4 year old Pit Bull Terrier named Dive and 1 year old Pit Bull Terrier named Diamond in the garage for an “excessive amount of time”.

The police were called to Hill’s home on Inland Court near Rainbow Boulevard and Spring Valley Parkway by animal protection officers who called Hill to collect the dogs.

According to Hill’s arrest report, she claimed the dogs generally had access to the back yard, but she put them in the garage because she had company on Father’s Day.

When the animal welfare officer looked into the garage, it turned out that the dogs had lived there for too long. Urine and feces covered the garage and there was no evidence that the dogs had access to food or water.

The animal welfare officer also observed that Diamond had cuts on his nose and believed that the dog was trying to dig through the concrete to find cooler air.

Police believe both dogs died of heat exhaustion and that the deaths “were due to continuous and persistent neglect”.

The temperature on Sunday was 111 degrees and the humidity was below 5%.

Hill has faced willful or malicious animal cruelty on two counts. She was booked into the Clark County Detention Center.

She is due to appear in court on June 22nd at 1:30 p.m.
