LAS VEGAS (KLAS) – A Las Vegas woman died in an accident on Interstate 15 on June 30 after her vehicle left the street and hit a traffic barrier north of St. Rose Parkway.
Kelly Cover, 40, was rushed to University Medical Center after the crash at 11 p.m. and pronounced dead in the hospital. She was the only occupant of the vehicle, according to a Nevada Highway Patrol press release.
Preliminary investigation has failed to determine why Covers Jeep Patriot went north off the road and pulled into the left shoulder. The jeep hit an impact absorber – a device designed to cushion accidents on impact – and spun counterclockwise until it came to a partial stop in the left lane.

Debris from the impact damaged two passing vehicles.
This marks the Nevada Highway Patrol – Southern Command’s 38th fatal crash with 46 deaths in 2021.
