The local pasta place closed its doors for a week. The owner said his team is taking a well-deserved break.
LOUISVILLE, Kentucky – With restaurants in our area permanently closed, a local favorite won’t close until this week. There are no staffing or supply issues – the owner said his team just deserved a break.
“For me, I love taking care of people so this is like a dream come true,” said Ramen House owner Jonathan Ham.
The restaurant is tucked away between a movie theater and library in the Mid-City Mall in the Highlands. But right now the people who run the restaurant are halfway across the country in Las Vegas.
In addition to free time, Ham helped pay some of his employees for the trip.
“I think people are the most important resource any business – and a restaurant in particular – can have,” he said. “And that’s why I try to invest as much as possible in my people.”
Sorry for closing this week .. our staff have worked so hard and diligently through all the crazy times we have passed …

It’s a payout that even customers can see.
Juan Ortiz went to the restaurant Tuesday night looking for a full meal, but received a heartwarming surprise instead.
“When you see an employer actually doing this for their employees,” Ortiz said. “It makes you feel great. I actually get goose bumps when I think about it. “
To the customers preparing the next bowl of ramen, Ham said, “I’m sorry, we’ll be back next week. Just give us a few days to relax. We’ll be back.”
The core team in Vegas is made up of the same people who helped open the restaurant in 2019. After a week of celebration, they will bring the meals back to the table.
That is – if they don’t win big first.
