A man in a wheelchair was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries after being hit by an SUV in northwest Las Vegas on Monday evening, police said.
Officials responded at 5 p.m. on Rainbow Boulevard and Peak Drive after a report of a collision with a man in a wheelchair and a gray Kia SUV, Lt. Brian Boxler of the Metropolitan Police Department.
The Kia was driving north in the left lane on Rainbow and was approaching the marked zebra crossing at the intersection, according to a notice from the department. The pedestrian in a wheelchair, a 44-year-old man, crossed the street but the Kia didn’t stop, police said. The front of the vehicle hit the man and threw him into the street.
The man was taken to the university hospital. The driver of the Kia was slightly injured, said Boxler.
An impairment was not suspected, said Boxler.
