In week 25 of the 2021 USL championship campaign, LA Galaxy II will travel live on ESPN + to Las Vegas Lights FC at Cashman Field on Friday, October 8th at 7:00 p.m. PT.
This year the Los Dos 9-12-5 (32 points) with 45 goals scored and 49 goals conceded represent a difference of -4 goals. In their last game, LA Galaxy II’s three-game winning streak ended after a 3-0 home loss to San Diego Loyal SC on October 2nd. Galaxy II ranks fourth in the Pacific Division. Tied on points with fifth place Sacramento Republic FC. In the last eight games played through August 27, LA holds a 4-3-1 record.
During the 2021 season, Preston Judd ranks ninth in the league in terms of goals scored (12). In addition, Jorge Hernández is second in LA with 10 goals scored, including the league leader with 70 chances created. Vom Steeg leads the team with six shutouts and 50 saves in 18 games in 2021. Josh Drack is 13th in the USL Championship with six assists.
Friday’s competition marks the fourth and final clash between the two clubs this season, with Los Dos holding a 2-1-0 record against Las Vegas this season and beating the Lights 11-6. Notably, Judd has scored five goals in three games against Las Vegas in 2021, with the forward scoring a hat trick in a 4-3 loss to Vegas on June 16.
In 2020 Los Dos finished the regular season 8-6-2 with 26 points (4-3-1 at home and 4-3-1 away), taking them second place in the Group B standings and one place in the USL Championship Playoffs for the second consecutive season.
Head coach Junior Gonzalez holds a 23-24-10 record throughout his tenure as head coach at LA Galaxy II and has taken the team to two consecutive playoff appearances. In the seven years of USL Championship competition, Los Dos has qualified for the playoffs five times, in addition to a USL Western Conference Championship in 2015.
