LAS VEGAS (AP) – A Michigan man accused of causing a bomb hoax at the Trump International Hotel near the Las Vegas Strip told authorities he wanted to send a message that former Republican President Donald Trump was loud ruined his life on an arrest report.
Dandre Maurice Lundy stayed in Clark County Jail Wednesday after being arrested Tuesday at a budget motel not far from the Trump building.
Bomb technicians discovered that a suitcase and holdall that Lundy had allegedly left at a hotel service desk contained nothing dangerous, and police discovered that he was taking a taxi from the motel to the hotel and back.
Lundy told police that he put a Bible, rock, $ 1 bill and handwritten “writings” in the suitcase and “believed Trump had messed up his life for the past three years,” according to the arrest report.
Lundy, 44, of Farmingville, Michigan, appeared before a Las Vegas judge Wednesday on six criminal charges, including threats of terrorism.
The judge set his bail at $ 60,000 and gave prosecutors until September 7 to file a criminal complaint.
An assistant public defender who temporarily stood in for Lundy at the hearing did not immediately respond to a message asking for a comment on Lundy’s behalf.
Police said Lundy told investigators he traveled from Michigan to Las Vegas on Monday and admitted he knew a bomb threat would alert people.
Hotel security and staff evacuated the Trump building lobby and restaurant while Lundy allegedly threatened the hotel with a phone bomb, police said. The rest of the hotel tower was not evacuated.
Lundy asked investigators after his arrest if he could get his suitcase back and said no one was injured so the police report said there was no crime.
