LAS VEGAS (KLAS) – A motorcyclist is dead Friday night after an alleged DUI crash in the eastern Las Vegas Valley.
It happened around 9:20 p.m. on East Owens Avenue, near Mt. Hood Street.
Police said the 39-year-old motorcyclist was traveling west on Owens in the inner lane when the driver of a 2016 GMC Sierra heading east was unable to keep his lane. The GMC Sierra crossed the shared turning lane in the middle and crashed into the motorcycle.
According to the police, the motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.
The 29-year-old GMC driver failed the sobriety tests and was admitted to the Clark County Detention Center on suspicion of driving disorder.
The motorcyclist’s death marks the 77th road fatality in the LVMPD’s jurisdiction for 2021.
