Restaurants that specialize in juicy seafood have always had a prominent place in the Las Vegas dining landscape – and in the hungry hearts of Las Vegas visitors. After all, which other city in the world is more closely identified with the shrimp cocktail?

This iconic dish and other well-known favorites are just the beginning of the oceanic offering now on and off the Strip as this culinary category has expanded and diversified beyond a seafood lover’s wildest dreams.

Start a fish-oriented adventure here at one of the top spots of all time. Michael Mina at the Bellagio (702.693.8865). As one of the signature experiences of the luxury resort, this gourmet restaurant has always been praised for its outstanding service, excellent wine and a wonderful atmosphere, while the innovations in classic fish dishes shine above all. Go a little different with a hot charcoal-grilled shellfish platter, crispy Southeast Asian prawns, or rossini with tuna and foie gras, or indulge in the chef’s masterpieces, namely ahi tuna tartare and lobster pot pie.

One door down the Strip at Caesars Palace, Bobby Flays new Amalfi (702.650.5965) takes guests on an authentic tour along the Italian coast through salmon carpaccio with pistachio breadcrumbs, charred octopus with pancetta and squid fettucine fra diavolo with lobster, prawns and squid. The filling, market-fresh, whole fish from the grill with various side dishes is the centerpiece of this menu, whereby products from the Mediterranean are constantly used. Amalfi is an experience in its own category.

But you don’t have to make reservations at a fancy casino restaurant to get some great seafood on the Strip. Stroll down the boulevard to the outside promenade of the FSLV – Fashion Show Las Vegas and discover the addicting lobster rolls at Luke’s lobster (702.866.6602), a kiosk that also serves east coast-style crab and shrimp sandwiches, as well as mac and cheese, chowder, and more. Who Says Las Vegas Don’t Make Street Food?

You can find delicious seafood off the Strip too, starting with an always-bustling institution that’s as popular with locals as it is with tourists. The oyster bar at Palace Station (702.367.2411) is a must-see in Vegas, a 24-hour eatery that serves fresh, raw oysters and clams, one of the best versions of this shrimp cocktail, and special stir fry with shrimp, crab or lobster for an unforgettable creamy Tomato broth.

With a location in downtown Las Vegas and another restaurant to the southwest on Blue Diamond Road, Bajamar Seafood & Tacos (702.331.4266) is becoming one of the valley’s top destinations for Baja cuisine such as ceviche tostadas, shrimp aguachiles, and fish tacos. And when it comes to tacos this is where you go beyond breaded and fried white fish, although they do that well too. Discover spicy shrimp, smoked marlin, and sauteed octopus tacos at Bajamar and you’ll discover why there are so many regulars who keep coming back.

Take a trip to Chinatown (or Henderson for another location) for everything from Mexican flavors to Mediterranean staples to shop in popular Spicy N juicy lobster (702.891.8889). Get ready to get your hands dirty and enjoy savory, buttery lobster, shrimp or snow crab legs along with fried seafood platters and giant softshell crab or catfish po’boy sandwiches at this long-time favorite of the locals.
