LAS VEGAS (KLAS) – The craft beer scene in southern Nevada continues to be full of opportunity.

After three years, Amanda Payan and her brother are preparing to open their brewery in their parents’ former construction company. The beers are named for their family and the landmarks of North Las Vegas.

“We loved incorporating this important part of our family history as we, as the third generation business owner in North Las Vegas, wanted to incorporate this small piece of our family heritage,” said Amanda Payan, co-owner of North 5th Brewing.

Payan says shipping and delivery issues due to the pandemic have added to their budget and schedule, but they were able to get around this.

“Even the prices for the building materials have risen. The plumbing came up, the electrics came up, and that’s simply because of the scarcity of everything, ”Payan added.

Despite some challenges, North 5th Brewing is now one of five new companies to open in town in two months.

“These are jobs that offer a decent wage, so a decent wage so that you can feed and support your family. So this is extremely important, ”said Pamela Goynes Brown.

Councilor Goynes Brown says the city is now working to open even more premieres.

“We bring high quality restaurants, seating and fast food restaurants. So there are a lot of premieres in this space because there aren’t many places like this in North Las Vegas and Craig Road is just developing that way, ”added Goynes Brown.

In October, the city of North Las Vegas launched its Small Business Connector. This is a one-stop shop for access to finance, people, and business start-up support.

North 5th Brewing opens December 11th.
