A Harrisburg man who took a group of friends on a poker trip to Las Vegas with a group of friends returns home much wealthier after hitting a jackpot at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino on Wednesday morning.
Caesars Entertainment, which owns Vegas Casino, announced that guest Scott Long hit a mega progressive jackpot for $ 544,904 on Ultimate Texas Hold’em.
Long, a frequent Ultimate Texas Hold’em player, visited the casino for a poker tournament and sat down at a table for a game on Wednesday. After about an hour, Long won the jackpot with a royal flush in diamonds, the casino announced.
A royal flush is the highest ranking hand in poker that requires ten, jack, queen, king and ace of the same suit. In Texas Hold ‘Em, which offers better odds than Five Card Draw Poker, the odds of a royal flush are around one in 30,940 hands.
“I couldn’t believe it!” Long said. He and his friends were stunned when he took the payout.
With his newfound money, Long plans to pay off his mortgage and tuition fees. He’ll also plan on spending some on family fun.
