LAS VEGAS (KLAS) – A 48-year-old real estate agent is being held on a $ 20,000 bond loan charge of first degree arson and charged with burning his own home and his brother’s home on Saturday, according to an arrest report the metro police.
Julian Werly was arrested at his house west of Nelson on SR 165. Nelson is west of US Highway 95 between Boulder City and Searchlight.
Werly’s brother Gabriel called the police around 2:30 p.m. on Saturday after Werly told him he had set his house on fire. According to his brother, Julian Werly was under the influence of a controlled substance at this time.
Julian Werly also made statements threatening to shoot the police so they would shoot him, his brother said.
The police looked for him in his home but could not find him.
“A short time later, Julian came to Gabriel’s apartment, went in and told him he had poured kerosene on his front door and set it on fire,” said the arrest report. Gabriel was able to put out the fire and tried to calm his brother down.
But Julian Werly set the apartment on fire a second time, Gabriel said to the police. This fire burned the house down and spread to another building.
According to the Clark County Fire Department, a total of three buildings “could not be saved”. The fire department was unable to respond to the fires as fire engines could not drive on the streets in the area.
Julian Werly was arrested after traveling west on SR165 and is currently in custody at the Clark County Detention Center, due to appear in court on October 26th.
