1. The runs continue

A day after scoring 15 runs to beat the Fliers on Sunday, Reno added 21 on Monday and 16 on Tuesday. Last Saturday the Aviators crossed the Homeplate 18 times. The final results of the four games were 18-7, 15-7, 21-16 and 16-4.

2. Striking exercises with fastballs

The total of 37 runs in the game on Monday were perceived as astronomical and extraordinary. But the total only set the Las Vegas Ballpark record for most runs in the game. For those who score at home (with high-performance computers), Round Rock beat the Aviators on June 6, 2019 with a score of 26-11.

3. And more BP fastballs

Daulton Jefferies, the Fliers starting pitcher in the 21-16 game against Reno, earned a run average of a stingy 1.37 on the go. The new ERAs of the other Las Vegas pitchers that appeared at the Torch: Ben Bracewell, 10.66; Adam Kolerek, 3:43 pm; James Naile, 5.28 (he only hit four batteries, but went two and hit one); Miguel Romero, 9.24; Reymin Guduan, 9.82; Jesus Zambrano, 15.19.

4. Run to the border

With the Aviators beating seven runs on Monday (by the third inning, I might add), fans received a free Doritos Loco Taco in a promotion with participating Taco Bell restaurants. The fast food chain got away with it a lot easier than the pitching staff in Las Vegas.

5. To be honest

The Fliers’ first baseman Frank Schwindel was named Triple-A Player of the Week June 7-13 after beating .429 (12-for-28) with six home runs and seven RBIs. He hit another homer on Tuesday, giving him 12 for the season, but was 0-for-5 on Thursday and 1-for-4 against Tacoma on Friday as his batting average dipped at .295.

6. Quite an eye-catcher

Two nights after getting vertigo out of the City National Arena, the Golden Knights ‘training track, with a line drive home run, the Aviators’ Cody Thomas hit a ball all the way out of the Las Vegas Ballpark last Saturday night. It crossed the embankment in the right field and appeared to be heading for Town Center Drive when the cameras and Doppler radar lost track.

7. If you can’t stand the heat …

… then the Las Vegas Ballpark is not the right place during the current homestand. Ember temperatures combined with the Golden Knights playoff hockey on television have limited the Aviators to two sell-outs in eight games through Friday.

8. Coming and going

Skye Bolt is back with the Aviators after playing 1v13 with the A’s during his draft. The one hit was his first MLB home run. The A’s also released Tanner Anderson on Thursday. He was 3-0 with a decent 3.60 ERA in 15 appearances with the Aviators, but he was a bunch of guys (12 in 15 innings with only three strikeouts).

9. Hear this music

After the Aviators tour again on Wednesday, the Las Vegas Ballpark will host its first concert of the season on Saturday evening. British Rock Royalty will perform hits from The Who, Pink Floyd, David Bowie, Queen and Led Zeppelin. The band is led by Las Vegan Brody Dolyniuk, who has an ERA of 0.00 – probably because he doesn’t have to face Reno just yet.

10. Aviator Quiz

In 2015, that seeped into the first base dugout in Cashman Field, triggering a domino effect that led to the construction of the Las Vegas Ballpark: A: Bubbling Crude. B. Tobacco juice. C: sunflower seeds. D: raw sewage. (Though bubbly crude oil would have been one way to describe it, and it could have included tobacco juice and sunflower seeds, the correct answer is D: raw sewage spat into the shelter when a toilet reversed.
