Mother’s Day is a wonderful day to welcome spring. Seems to be tailor-made for brunch. And restaurants in the Las Vegas area are more than happy to do so. Below is a selection of the best in the valley.
Honey salt, 1031 S. Rampart Blvd., usually books pretty early for Mother’s Day, but you can make your own brunch with their pop-up from 12pm to 4pm on Friday. The restaurant offers sweet and savory baked goods such as pastries, cupcakes, cookies, hot quiches and artisanal sandwiches. Elizabeth Blau and Kim Canteenwalla will be signing copies of their cookbook “Honey Salt Food & Drink – A Culinary Scrapbook”. The French Cottage Bakery offers sourdoughs, baguettes and bread. Skull house In the Virgin Hotels in Las Vegas, the La Manana Brunch takes place on Mother’s Day from 10 a.m. It offers oversized towers of sangria, bottomless mimosas and bellinis, cocktails and dishes like chorizo and egg tacos with Oaxaca cheese and potatoes, and sweetcorn tamales with pina colada sauce and berries marinated with mint agave, and a stack of five yellow corn cake with maple syrup, chocolate sauce and berry compote. casacalavera.com
Chica The Venetian offers what is perhaps the longest Mother’s Day brunch in town, from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. The menu says Sweet Spring Peach Salad with Basil Sorbet, $ 16; roasted Peruvian snapper with wilted spinach and pickled red onions, $ 33; and Bien Me Sabe, coconut cake with coconut cream, strawberry and hibiscus jam, swirls of coconut, mango, and raspberry sauces, and rose petals, $ 13. “Mom-osas” made from cava and freshly squeezed juices cost $ 10 a glass or $ 45 a bottle. chicarestaurant.com
