The University of Hawaii Warriors football team will face the University of Nevada, Las Vegas Rebels at Allegiant Stadium on Saturday, November 13th. The UH Alumni Association, in partnership with the Hawaiian Islands, is encouraging fans to join the UH Warriors with Weekend in Las Vegas events to cheer Hawaii’s team to victory.

“This is one of the most anticipated games of the season and we are grateful to have the support of the State of Hawaii and the Hawaii and Hawaiian Islands Tourism Board as we head to Island 9,” said David Matlin, UH Athletics Director. “The celebrations scheduled for Warrior Weekend will bring together UH alumni, soccer fans and Nevada residents for two days of incredible Hawaiian hospitality and will be a great marketing opportunity for the state.”

Football fans have the opportunity to start the weekend with two pre-game events.

  • The first, “Kickoff at The Cal”, will take place in the Ohana Room of the California Hotel and Casino on Friday, November 12th from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm at the California Hotel and Casino | ʻOhana room. • The second event, Game Day Rally, will take place on Saturday, November 13th from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm at the Luxor Las Vegas Bud Light Beer Garden. Both events feature special guest appearances, food and live entertainment. Further information and tickets are available on the UH Alumni Association website at https://uhalumni.org.

This Warrior Weekend partnership between UH and the Hawaiian Islands was heavily endorsed by key Hawaiian lawmakers, who encouraged HTA to replicate and expand on the success of its previous market event, which took place when the Warriors played against the University of Washington in Seattle in 2019. These efforts resulted in increased UH brand awareness and awareness of HTA’s West Coast marketing efforts among alumni and residents of Washington state who attended the pre-game celebrations.

“Whether they are Keiki o ka Aina or have chosen our university for their college education, our UH student athletes are ambassadors for Hawaii,” said John De Fries, President and CEO of HTA. “This partnership strengthens the relationship between the visitor industry and the Hawaiian football team while demonstrating the energy, vibrancy and aloha of our employees and our home.”
