Golden Nugget is one of the real gems of Las Vegas. It’s off the beaten path of the Strip, but no less impressive, on the Fremont Street Experience corridor and has great gaming, entertainment, and most importantly, dining. The dining options are all worth your dollar, but the king of the hill here is also one of the best in town – Vic & Anthony’s Steakhouse.
The outpost of this classic franchise in Las Vegas – you’ll also find locations in Atlantic City, Houston, and Lake Charles, La. – stays true to the qualities that made it one of the award-winning steakhouses in downtown Las Vegas: Stunning decor reflecting the great dining experiences of the past, attentive staff and a killer menu.
In a fancy dining room like this, it would be almost criminal not to order a cocktail, and Vic & Anthony’s has some of your all-time favorites including Manhattans, sidecars and old-fashioneds, not to mention some surprises like the Spiced Pear, so tasty with St George pear liqueur, fresh orange juice and Tintero moscato D’asti, and the full can that lives up to its name with Dewar’s Japanese Mizunara oak barrel, Choya Yuzu liqueur, honey syrup, Domaine de Canton and ginger.
What’s a great steak experience without starting with a salad? The options here are all strong, especially the pear and saga blue cheese salad that’s drizzled with creamy vinaigrette and accented by candied pecans and tear tomatoes; the chopped steakhouse salad, filled to the brim with cheese, salami, bacon and red onions; and the classic iceberg wedge, garnished with Roquefort dressing and loaded with tomatoes, carrots, red onions, eggs, maple lard and Roquefort cheese.
Now that your taste buds are ready for more, add an appetizer like Filet Mignon Steak Tartar, served with puffed chips and cucumber shallots; Lobster bisque with cognac; Jumbo Crab Cakes with Chives Beurre Blanc; or ridiculously addictive Japanese Wagyu carpaccio A5, accented with pickled beech mushrooms and olive oil. A special highlight here is the roasted bacon in a pepper crust, so decadent with bourbon barrel maple syrup and a root beer glaze.
Who is ready for a steak? You can traditionally dine at Vic & Anthony’s with a 40-ounce tomahawk, prime ribeye, or porterhouse, but for the next experience be sure to check out the A5 program, including the A5 Kobe Hyogo Prefecture (100% Tajima Kobe Beef) or the A5 Japanese Wagyu Filet Mignon. You may never look at steaks the same way again.
Other starters certainly deserve your attention as well, including fried lobster mac and cheese piled high with 5 ounce lobster tail and a lobster cheese sauce. There is also an excellent lamb chop, pan seared chicken, and seared salmon.
Don’t make the mistake of avoiding desserts here. As soon as you get to the In the Round of the restaurant at your table, you will forget how full you are. It’s a large chocolate ball that is poured over hot caramel sauce that melts the chocolate and reveals a sweet treat inside.
