Resorts World Las Vegas has built what is probably the largest AV-over-IP network of its kind. It encompasses almost every part of the property with more than 2,000 endpoints and is growing. Visionary’s PacketAV Duet Wall Plate Encoder with Bluetooth is the first of its kind and a key component in this installation.

Resorts World Las Vegas is more than just the first resort built on the Las Vegas Strip in over a decade – it marks the beginning of a new era for an ever-evolving city.

The 88-acre property is located on the site of the former Stardust Resort and Casino and offers 3,506 guest rooms and suites in three different hotels, over 40 first-class restaurants and drinks, a 5,000-seat theater and two-story restaurant and retail promenade, as well as state-of-the-art connectivity an AV-over-IP system with Visionary-powered networked audio and video.

“Resorts World Las Vegas has built what is probably the largest AV-over-IP network of its kind,” said Scott Freshman, Visionary’s chief operating officer.

“It encompasses almost every part of the property with more than 2,000 endpoints, and the trend is rising. The size and scope of the project brought several AV integrators together, each taking on specific areas of the huge project. It is unique that so many integrators who were once competitors come together to put this wonderful project together. “

The Las Vegas Technology West Group was selected to oversee the project, including the design and implementation of the entire AV system and facility-wide network specifications.

Richard Reisig, Vice President of Technology West Group, worked directly with Resorts World Las Vegas to facilitate the design of the low-rise section (known as “the Podium”), the West Tower, the precinct, and all outdoor areas.

“A critical component is a network AV system on the network. The Resort World Las Vegas network includes over 2,000 PacketAV endpoints and 2,000 QLAN channels, ”said Reisig. “The number of endpoints continues to grow as we expand the system. It’s a very large, purpose-built network designed to deliver gigabit non-blocking end-to-end bandwidth to every location on the property with less than a millisecond of latency.

“The Technology West Group was chosen for the design phase and the project was very fluid at the time. The final step in the design was choosing a video solution. We chose a network-based video solution because Resorts World Las Vegas wanted to connect everything on the property to every location. Ultimately, we chose Visionary because they provided us with a reliable solution that filled each of the gaps. One of the main reasons we chose Visionary was because of its robust network capabilities. “

Unique to Visionary, the PacketAV endpoints offer internal device VLAN tagging. Because of the complexity of the network and the various protocols, including video, QLAN, Dante, AES67, DMX, and control, it is important to separate traffic for effective network management.

Reisig added, “Given the size and complexity of the network, VLAN tagging was critical for us. Especially on the scale that we’re getting, you can’t have 2,000 devices on a single VLAN network and just hope it will work. “

In another important milestone of the project, Visionary took this opportunity and developed an innovative Bluetooth-enabled wall mount encoder that is implemented throughout the system.

Reisig explains: “Visionary had an HDMI wall mount encoder with VLAN tagging. We reached out to Visionary and said, “This is great, but we don’t need analog audio; instead we need bluetooth. ‘ Visionary was very collaborative – they jumped in and offered us to create a custom wall plate with bluetooth audio. Your flexibility changed the game for us. This enabled us to reduce the number of ports, switches, power consumption and overall costs by integrating two different products into one. “

Visionary’s PacketAV Duet Wall Plate Encoder with Bluetooth is the first of its kind. The Duet Wall Plate Encoder combines powerful 4K UHD video and Dante / AES67 audio embedding and de-embedding over a single Gigabit Ethernet port. With Bluetooth 5.0 for extended range, faster data throughput and reliable connections, the Duet Wall Plate Encoder supports bi-directional smartphone connectivity for soft codec web conferencing AV integration to eliminate the need for separate bridging hardware.

The new $ 4.3 billion property is designed to provide an upscale experience for the modern Las Vegas traveler seeking luxury, value, and variety. To offer unparalleled connectivity, Resorts World Las Vegas was designed to be one of the largest AV integrations on the Strip.

Resorts World Las Vegas can broadcast a signal from anywhere on the property and distribute it to the 100,000 square foot LED screen (recognized as one of the largest LED building displays in the United States), the theater, casino, or anywhere else on the property, and vice versa . All of this makes the guest experience at Resorts World Las Vegas the most technologically advanced offering anywhere.

Each guest room across the resort’s three hotel brands – Las Vegas Hilton, Conrad Las Vegas and Crockfords Las Vegas – features an intuitive AV system from One Touch Living.

“The scope of the project was to design the technology in the rooms to improve the guest experience,” said Corey Brushia, president of One Touch Living. “Our goal was to create an environment that would allow guests to interact with the rooms and the property. Visionary made a conventional HDBaseT matrix superfluous. Visionary made it possible for us to connect from anywhere to anywhere. For example, we can record content from an executive suite, connect it to a meeting room or ballroom, or stream a special event into a villa. The possibilities are endless. “

National Technology Associates, a Las Vegas-based technology integrator, was selected to integrate with the public areas on the first floor of the resort – including the hotel lobbies, registration, casino and gaming areas, and underground levels.

Shane Snell, Project Manager at National Technology Associates, said, “One of the biggest challenges on this project was scale. The property has nearly 2,000 video endpoints and thousands of speaker channels. I am not sure if it is possible to distribute these components other than over the network. Each system can now reach each other because the audio and video integration is in the same network. We standardized Visionary and QSC to optimize communication between the technology components. ”Resorts World Las Vegas has a state-of-the-art, immersive cinema with 5,000 seats. Global music stars Celine Dion, Carrie Underwood, Katy Perry and Luke Bryan will be the venue’s founding headliners.

Scéno Plus, a Montreal-based theater design company, was tasked with creating the design and Solotech was selected for technology integration.

François Blais, Vice President Technology and Special Equipment at Scéno Plus said: “We have been building theaters around the world for 35 years. As a theater designer, it is our job to make sure that everything is coordinated. We want artists to perform at this venue and tell us, ‘This is one of the best venues we’ve played and we want to come back.’ Visionary enabled us to manage this large installation quickly and efficiently. “

Sébastien Larose, AV designer at Scéno Plus, adds: “We have over 150 televisions in the cinemas. The ability to put the content on the network and use a single CAT5 cable allows us to simplify the system. We have Visionary endpoints almost everywhere because Visionary enables us to receive a signal from anywhere and transmit it to any location on the property. “

Solotech was selected for the design build for the Zouk Nightclub, Ayu Dayclub and the associated restaurants and lounges at Resort World Las Vegas.

“We have a mix of displays in the restaurants, cabanas and bungalows in the day club and night club. We integrated Visionary’s endpoints into all of these areas to give the guest simplified control to choose between sources and deliver content to those endpoints, ”said Aaron Beck, Business Development Manager at Solotech. “The overall ability of Visionary to provide the technology to connect these endpoints to a global network is incredibly impressive.”

Visionary’s efficient endpoints use standard PoE power. This differentiator ties in directly with the sustainability initiatives of Resorts World Las Vegas.

“Resorts World Las Vegas is focused on corporate social responsibility efforts that enable both the community and the environment to win,” said Reisig. “We can use fewer products with Visionary’s Duet Wall Plate Encoder because multiple solutions are integrated into one. The solution also uses significantly less power than the competition because it runs over standard PoE. “

Snell added, “From a design and engineering point of view, standard PoE makes things very easy, while things that require PoE + or even PoE ++ make things very difficult to work with. It adds an additional layer of costs and maintenance. “
By integrating standard PoE power, Resorts World Las Vegas can reduce energy consumption and the associated environmental impact and also save tens of thousands of dollars per year – during the entire duration of the project.

As the first resort on the Strip in over a decade, Resorts World Las Vegas has the natural advantage of creating the most technologically advanced resort experience in the city. Visionary’s AV-over-IP technology has enabled Resorts World Las Vegas to have complete flexibility in performing any video and audio routing.

Visionary’s standard PoE, a technology that was not available 10 years ago, has enabled Resorts World Las Vegas to deliver this immense networked AV matrix at a fraction of the cost of traditional AV distribution methods. There are no matrix switchers anywhere on the property – they don’t exist in Resorts World.
