After the returning recruits re-entered the Worst Cooks kitchen in America, Anne Burrell and Michael Symon made discoveries both pleasant and unlikely in the season premiere. Although some skills have been forgotten since their last time at boot camp, the reality is that these recruits need a little luck by their side. Who is ready to roll the dice in this Las Vegas-themed episode?

The boot camp is transforming into the Las Vegas Strip, and although the recruits had to cash out at the beginning of their season, this is their chance to finally hit the jackpot! The teams compete against each other in a range of casino-themed culinary challenges. After winning some “cheddar” in the cash booth, chefs Anne Burrell and Michael Symon challenge their teams to prepare gourmet sandwiches with grilled cheese. For the main course challenge, they dive in depth making high-end seafood dishes. The bottom recruits of each team must take part in a blind elimination challenge, and unfortunately this is the end of the line for a competitor.
Looking at the two teams (Rocking Red Stars: Stephanie, Jonathan, Sadie, Joey and Blue Team: Jefferson, Domaine, Eric, Lulu), it’s hard to say which team does better on a culinary challenge. Although there were some missteps in the first episode, no one had extreme errors. In a Worst Cooks scenario, that result is a huge win.
For the grill cheese challenge, these recruits should master this concept. Even if there is a big difference between a gourmet grilled cheese and a mild grilled cheese, the concept can be realized. From the perfect cheese combination to crispy edges on bread, the delicious bite is within reach.
Although all recruits were safe in the first episode, someone will be going home this week. A blind elimination challenge will be quite difficult for the recruits. Even the best chefs can struggle with this type of challenge. If any of the lowest recruits can find a path to success, those efforts must be welcomed.
