Thanks to the high vaccination rates of the staff, Wynn Resorts and the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas are among the first operators of the Las Vegas Strip to resume 100% capacity in their casinos.

In a statement, Wynn Resorts announced that by May 3, 88% of its Las Vegas employees had been vaccinated against Covid-19. As a result, the company recently received approval from the Nevada Gaming Control Board to operate 100% capacity gaming areas on its Wynn and Encore properties starting May 1, and to remove plexiglass partitions from all table games and slot machines.

The news follows Wynn’s decision in early April to require all Wynn Las Vegas employees to either get a full vaccination or a weekly negative Covid-19 test.

Wynn employees have had access to vaccinations at the Wynn Las Vegas University Medical Center Vaccination Clinic in the Encore since mid-January.

Cosmopolitan Las Vegas was also allowed to increase its gaming surface capacity to 100% after reaching an 80% vaccination rate for employees.

In a press release, Cosmopolitan announced that the Nevada Gaming Control Board had given permission to operate its casino at full capacity from May 1st. In addition, the Cosmopolitan was allowed to remove social distancing restrictions and plastic barriers on its gaming tables.

The property is fresh from a major effort to motivate its workers to get the vaccine and collectively offers employees a cash bonus of over $ 1 million.

“The Cosmopolitan has made a significant effort to vaccinate its workforce and set an industry standard for what can be achieved through smart and quick action,” said J. Brin Gibson, chairman of the Nevada Gaming Control Board, in a statement. “We look forward to all of the resort partners continuing the momentum across the Strip.”

The Nevada Gaming Control Board has allowed the vast majority of Clark County casinos to operate at 80% capacity as of May 1st.
