Smithfield Foods, Inc. and its Saratoga Food Specialties business unit, the custom dry spice mixes, sauces, dressings and icings, will expand and nearly double its presence in North Las Vegas, Nevada. The project is expected to create 50 jobs.

The facility will be the company’s premier factory for sauces, dressings and glazes. According to company officials, Saratoga is a custom sauces and condiments maker that supplies proprietary products to the world’s largest restaurants. In addition to its North Las Vegas location, Saratoga has facilities in Eastvale, California and Bolingbrook, Illinois.

“We are excited to deepen our roots in the North Las Vegas community and add to our great Nevada workforce,” said Jim Bejna, vice president of operations at Saratoga. “This latest expansion is testament to the extraordinary growth of our business and the incredible support we have received from the local government and our partners.”

The project was supported by the Governor’s Office for Economic Development and the Las Vegas Global Economic Alliance.

“At LVGEA, our goal is to support a business-friendly environment that enables companies to not only find a home in Nevada but thrive here,” said Jared Smith, COO of LVGEA. “We are delighted that Saratoga has decided to continue investing in our region and create even more new jobs in our region for the benefit of our local economy and community.”
